Artist Statement:

Ron Malone is an award-winning Central Florida watercolor artist best known for his realistic and expressive portrait paintings. A Signature Member of the Florida Watercolor Society, Georgia Watercolor Society, and Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, Ron’s work has been selected for and recognized in regional, state, national, and international watercolor exhibitions.

Portraiture is Ron’s passion. His approach combines careful drawing, transparent layering, controlled values, and natural skin tones to create paintings that go beyond simply capturing a likeness. His goal is to capture the character and personality of the person behind the face.

Ron is also an experienced watercolor instructor and exhibition juror. He has taught art in the public schools and continues to teach adult watercolor classes in Winter Haven, FL. He has also served as a juror for watercolor exhibitions, including the Central Florida Watercolor Society’s Watercolor Showcase.

As an instructor, Ron believes learning watercolor should be challenging—but also relaxed, encouraging, and enjoyable. His workshops combine demonstrations, step-by-step instruction, and individual assistance to help artists understand the why behind watercolor techniques and gain the confidence to use them in their own paintings.

Whether teaching portraiture, color, values, washes, or layering, Ron’s goal is simple: help each artist become a better, more confident watercolor painter.
